Yesterday afternoon David took me to the Melbourne Airport and I flew via Singapore Changi Airport to Tokyo, arriving about 8am. The little bit of Japanese I have learnt helped me to get my luggage from the right place to catch the right bus to the Shinjuku Washington Hotel, to be dropped right outside the door. On the way it was raining lightly, but I saw lots of bamboo forests or rather coppices maybe, lots of cyprus pines and market type gardens. I just loved it and kept saying to my self "I'm in Japan!!!" Later in the day I loved hearing a crow which I eventually saw and was impressed with its strong hooked beak. It sounded like they did in England when we were there hearing crows, rooks etc and loving it. I went for a walk in a cherry blossom filled garden park and saw an old Shinto Temple.
