Yesterday we did some experimentation with katazome after our tutor demonstrated making and using rice paste as a resist to dye on cloth. After this we all dyed, our work which had been dried, using an indigo fermented vat.

Our tutor also demonstration to us the art of making an indigo vat with indigo crystals, and with instructions of how to make a fermented vat in other ways, so we had a very hands-on day.
After this in the late afternoon we went to some nearby Japanese baths and a wonderful bath in very hot water, having first showered. We were in the female section and the men in the male section. I was a bit nervous at first as had never bathed in this way but afterwards was so glad to have experienced it.
We then had a Japanese Pizza at a local pizza shop - not quite the same as The Pizza Hut - much much better.
