Yesterday we went to a little village north of Kyoto where there are beautiful thatched houses. We saw Hiroyuki Shindo's Little Indigo Museum which was very enjoyable. We caught a train up to Sonobe and then took a taxi (very expensive) up to the Kita Village where we met Hiro Yuki Shindo, after so many years of following him.

Cherry Blossom

We wandered around the beautiful village and had lunch at a little restaurant. I had hot sake with my meal.

Thatched cottages

It took at least two hours to get to Kita the little village and it was interesting seeing the pine forests and the wonderful rivers with greenish waters between the steep hills or mountains rippling over rounded big stones
