Tomorrow I go back to Tokyo via Nagoya where I hope to visit the little town of Arimatsu, a place where shibori was an essential trade item on the Tokaido Trade Route during the Edo Period, and there are now still, specialist shibori artisans there now who have been doing it for years.

This morning we went to the Bamboo Forest, taking the subway train a few stops and walking - it was wonderful, despite the rain. There were loads of people there.

During the sunny afternoon we took a Sky Bus tour around Kyoto - it is a great thing to do to get an overview of a city one is visiting. This was mainly a temple tour, and we saw two amazing temples, which we got out of the bus and walked around for the best part of an hour.

This is the bus

These are the temples we visited among others , firstly the Golden Pavilion at the Kinkaku-ji

Below is Kiyomizu-dera Temple

There were loads of people in the streets and around the temple also because it was Sunday..
